07/21/05 - Chinese Bid to Buy U.S. Firms Stalls

Authors: Michael Oneal

"I don't think this slows down Chinese investment," said Michael Nemeroff, head of the mergers-and-acquisition practice at Vedder Price.  Chinese companies he said, face the same global challenge U.S. companies do:  expand or stagnate.

"Look at the P&G and Gillette situation,"  Nemeroff said.  "Gillette was a very successful company, but it needed more size to compete in a global economy."
