08/05/08 - Mid-Level Associates Rank Vedder Price Highest Among Chicago-based Law Firms

In an annual survey of mid-level associates’ satisfaction, conducted by American Lawyer magazine, Vedder Price P.C. ranked 13th among America’s leading 200 firms and highest among Chicago-based law firms.  The firm was ranked 4th among the Am Law 200 law firm groups (second top 100 firms) and was the highest ranked Chicago-based firm in that grouping. 

The American Lawyer surveyed more than 7,000 associates (years 3 through 5) asking them to anonymously rate their firms according to a number of important factors.  Vedder Price ranked above the national average on many of these factors, including: 

• Interest and satisfaction of work
• Benefits and compensation
• Relations between associates and partners
• Training
• Firm management (openness and communication)    

According to Lewis Check, Director of Professional Development at Vedder Price, the results reflect continued efforts on the part of firm management and practice group leaders to maintain strong and open lines of communications with the firm’s associates.  “High-quality assignments, together with direct and honest feedback, are still the tried and true measures of success,” Check stated.
