Aaron R. Gelb Comments on Social Media Use in the Workplace in Chicago Tribune

Aaron R. Gelb, Shareholder and member of the firm’s Labor and Employment practice area, was quoted in the Chicago Tribune on September 2, 2011 in the article “Social Media Emerges as Battleground for Protected Speech at Work.”
The article focuses on recent complaints brought by the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) against companies that allegedly violated labor laws that protect employees posting comments about the workplace on social media sites such as Facebook.
The uncertainty surrounding this issue triggered NLRB to release a report that contains 14 separate charges of unfair labor practices involving employee use of social media. “Until employers recognize what the issues are,” said Gelb, “everybody is going to be feeling their way around.”
