11/15/07 - Bankruptcy Attorney Moves to Vedder Price

The law firm of Vedder Price announces that Jonathan E. Aberman, formerly Senior Counsel with the law firm of Foley & Lardner LLP, joins the firm as a Shareholder in its Corporate Reorganization, Bankruptcy and Insolvency Group.  A graduate of Duke University (B.A., 1995) and Northwestern University School of Law (J.D., 1998), Mr. Aberman has more than seven years of experience in representing secured and unsecured creditors, creditors’ committees, institutional lenders, asset purchasers and trustees in bankruptcy reorganizations and liquidations, workouts and other insolvency-related proceedings.

According to Douglas J. Lipke who chairs the firm’s Corporate Reorganization, Bankruptcy and Insolvency Group: “We are absolutely delighted to have Jonathan in our Group.  Our clients will benefit from his skill and broad range of experience.  We are continuing to add bankruptcy lawyers in Chicago and in New York to meet the needs of our clients.”

Mr. Aberman concentrates his practice on the areas of bankruptcy and creditors’ rights, and he is familiar with all aspects of the bankruptcy litigation process.  In addition, Mr. Aberman also has experience in mortgage foreclosures, state court receiverships and assignments for the benefit of creditors.  He recently co-authored “Creditors Committees under the Microscope—Recent Developments Highlight Hazards of Self-Dealing,” published in the ABI (American Bankruptcy Institute) Journal (September, 2007 issue).

Mr. Aberman is licensed to practice in Illinois, and he is a member of the Chicago Bar Association, the American Bankruptcy Institute and the Turnaround Management Association.  Mr. Aberman also serves on the Board of Directors of Chicago’s Collaboraction Theatre Company, an independent non-profit arts organization.  In addition, Mr. Aberman has volunteered for the Lawyers for the Creative Arts, providing legal counsel to artists pro bono.
