Authors: Erin C. Veazey
Alan M. Koral, Shareholder and Chair of the firm’s Labor and Employment practice in the New York office, was quoted in the article “Attorneys Say New Same-Sex Marriage Law Has Little Impact on Discrimination Rights” in the June 28, 2011 issue of Daily Labor Report (124 DLR B-1).
The article focused on whether the new law will have as dramatic an impact on employment discrimination rights as other workplace issues such as employee benefits. “I don’t honestly see that this is going to have much impact at all in the discrimination area,” Koral said, adding that the area of employment law that will be impacted most is employee benefits.
According to the article, New York’s Marriage Equality Act (A. 8354) goes into effect July 24, 2011.
